From February to July thousands of Km will be covered to visit the best European cities and some of the worship places for motorcyclists. Hans started all test as first rider which made him somewhat uncomfortable having to look for the best racing line. After every test Hans was getting more confidence and started to ride more relaxed. Even though riding better, Hans was not able to create a comfortable gap on his competition. While the special tests were though, the conditions on the liaison sections were very good, only the strong wind made it some what cold.

Finally in the fourth lap, Hans was able to put in a very solid time at the first test gaining lots of time on his competitors. Hans conservatively finished the race to maintain his lead and to secure the victory. Hans won ten out of twelve special tests.

Hans Vogels: “I’ve been practising on hard pack tracks the last few weeks and coming back to these typical sandy Dutch conditions, it took me bit to get used to again. The Husaberg was perfect today and I was able to make it two out of two at the start the Dutch Enduro season. Now it’s time to prepare myself for the WEC season. I can’t wait.”

The next race of Hans is the TwinAir Enduro sprint on 20-03 in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Lafferty had a slow start to the day, falling twice in the first section and getting stuck behind a few slower riders in the third test section. “I was down 30 seconds after the first three tests and knew I was going to have to put in a tremendous ride at the end to catch the leaders,” remarked Lafferty.

The fourth test, which was the most talked about of the day, was where the race was won for Lafferty. “The fourth test was all mud, and I just went right down the middle of it. In the end, just charging up the middle was a better line than staying to the outside because it wasn’t as deep and I was able to make up a lot of time.”

Lafferty finished 30 seconds up on Bobbitt in the fourth test and the two riders went into the final test tied for the lead. The fifth test was the longest of the day and was filled with thick brush and palm leaves. “The final test was brutal but I was able to make up the time I needed and put my Husaberg on the top of the podium. It feels great to get my first win of the season and the first National win for Husaberg.”

Fahringer also raced his best round of the season, tying for the fastest overall time in the third test and eventually finishing in 3rd place for the day. “I have been practicing in Florida the past two weeks and all of my sand riding paid off. I felt really comfortable today and am happy to finish on the box.”

The move has been determined after a proposed title sponsor pulled out at the 11th hour. It has left the squad with no option but to run Smart and team-mate Leon Hunt in the litre-class but team boss Steve Moore is still upbeat about their chances this year.

“To have to make this decision so late on is disappointing to say the least but I firmly believe Scott and Leon will be more than competitive in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 series, as we were last season,” said Moore.

“In all honesty, I think Superstock will be the most closely-fought series within British Superbikes this year and will generate the most interest. There are a lot of experienced riders on good packages so it is up to us to make sure we are up there from the start. After last year, we have got all the data we need from all the tracks, plus we have had some more help from Ducati Corse over the winter so I think we should be in pretty good shape. Scott tested at a cold Oulton Park last weekend but, despite the temperatures, we were able to get some good data to take forward to Brands Hatch at the start of next month. Personally, I am very confident with the mix of Scott’s experience and Leon’s youthful enthusiasm.”

In yesterday’s Daytona 200, a new era in Ducati competition began. For the first time in AMA Pro Racing’s Daytona Sportbike class, the Ducati 848 turned its wheels around the historic Daytona circuit. Of the six bikes entered, the results were staggering: not a single mechanical problem and a podium for the bike in its first time out. The 848 has proven to be an exceptional weapon for this class- especially considering many of the bikes were entered with little modification. This is a true testament to the 848’s race-readiness right off the showroom floor.

The podium finish in the prestigious Daytona 200 went to 2007 winner and Team Latus Motors rider Steve Rapp. Rapp put in an excellent performance at the front of the pack, and led home the group of five 848’s which finished in the top twenty positions.

“The race was pretty easy and non-eventful, which is good,” Said Rapp “We had good pit stops too. They probably weren’t the fastest but we didn’t make any mistakes and that’s all I can ask. I’m looking forward to the next race!”

In the Superbike class, rider Larry Pegram began his season with an impressive performance. Pegram fought all the way to the checkered flag and finished on the podium. It was a great start to the Foremost Insurance rider’s 2010 Superbike campaign, and he is looking forward to the next race at California’s Auto Club Speedway- a favorite track of his.

“It was a great start to the season for us!” Said Pegram. “The bikes ran great and we were right there on speed. Daytona is always tough on tires so we lost a bit there, but otherwise things are perfect.”

Monster Energy Kawasaki Under the Tent

Win Again
Pourcel was part of a very eventful race as the top four riders in the supercross lites class raced together right from the drop of the gate. With Wilson up front, Pourcel battled to get close to the lead and with just three laps remaining he claimed the top spot and earned his second win of the season.

“I had a good start and almost got the holeshot,” said Pourcel. “When I saw it was Dean next to me I let him go because he had a good run. I wanted to work together with him so we could both pull away. It was a crazy race; guys were making moves that made it difficult to ride. Everything worked for me though because I won after everybody crashed trying to pass each other.”

Holeshot
In only his second race, Wilson wowed the crowd with a daring holeshot and then the 18-year-old rookie didn’t look back leading the first eight laps of the main event.

“Tonight was great,” said Wilson. “I got out there with the holeshot. I can’t say enough about my Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki. It has so much power and I got a great start. I rode well the first ten laps, but then I started to get tired and my arms began to pump up. I felt great running up front. “

Hard Luck
Villopoto looked to be in position to contend for the win at Atlanta running second when he went down just before the mechanics area. Villopoto was uninjured after his trip over the bars, but his muffler packed full of dirt, which kept him from starting his bike right away.

“I was going triple-triple through that section and came up on a lapper,” said Villopoto. “I had to change my line and I ended up casing the jump. That sent me over the bars. Worse than that though was the silencer filled with dirt and I couldn’t get the bike restarted. It wouldn’t have been too bad if I could have got going right away. I wasn’t hurt at all.”

Steady Race
Wey continued his streak of top-10 finishes fighting his way up from the back during the race.

“I’m pushing each week to get better,” said Wey. “This week we got another top 10, but it could have been better. I got a decent start, but got stuck on the outside in the first couple of corners. I hit (Davi) Milsaps and almost slid out, so I lost a lot of spots. I’m riding a lot better during the week and I’m hoping I can bring that to the track on Saturday.”

Long Season
For the second time this season, Villopoto faces a 20-point deficit in the points standings. In the four races before Atlanta, Villopoto made up the deficit and he is looking to do the same in the second half of the season.

“There are nine races left in the season,” said Villopoto. “That’s a lot of time to make up the 23 points. I just need to work to put myself back in a good position in the points.”

Differences
Wilson’s first time at the point was different than anything he’s ever experienced. The amateur champion is still looking for his first podium, and is using every lap to gain the experience he needs to get on the box.

“Leading a supercross race is a lot different,” said Wilson. “In my amateur races I would get the lead and pull away. In the pro ranks, there’s somebody behind you the whole time. My Kawasaki KX?250F handled great. Even without berms on the track I was able to turn the bike easily. I wish I could have held on for a podium, but it was a learning experience.”

Flat Track
The layout of the Georgia Dome was different than most of the riders have ever seen at a supercross event. Normally the turns have large berms to help the riders get through the turn faster, but Atlanta was almost all flat corners which put a premium on rider skill.

“The track threw me off because there were no berms,” said Wey. “Every track we practice on has berms, and we showed up this week and there were only three bowl turns. That made it hard to get a flow and difficult to pinpoint where I needed to get better because the track was so different.”
