With the Burgman 400, Suzuki was the first manufacturer to take up the challenge of maxi scooters of over 250 cc. It has been a definite success. With an 8 year track record, the Burgman has always been one of the most sold models in its category in France, Italy and Spain. What was considered ‘enormous’ in 1999 - i.e. a cc of 400 for a scooter intended to be ridden 80% in towns and 20% on open roads - today appears an interesting compromise in the face of models of 500 cc and over. Also competition has grown stiffer and the Burgman 400 now has to reckon with the Honda Silver Wing 400 with a two cylinder engine, the Yamaha Majesty 400 and the brand new Piaggio X8 400. |
